Chapman University vs Occidental College - NCAA Division III Women’s Tournament

I haven’t posted a basketball game since the end of the High School season a few weeks ago. So to make it up I have a first of many to show to all of you. Coach Carol Jue of the Chapman University Women’s basketball team was kind enough to allow me to attend one of their home games to capture the action. Lucky for me, it was also the end of the college season and the start of the NCAA Division III Championships (March Madness). My first college game, my first women’s game and also my first NCAA March Madness game! Due to the NCAA regulations I was also required to obtain a media pass from the school. I actually felt like a real professional photographer for once and it was definitely an awesome feeling.

For the first round of the NCAA Division III Championships, Chapman University played host to Occidental College. The game was definitely a thriller as it went into overtime as the Panthers of Chapman University prevailed over the Tigers of Occidental College. Chapman took the lead at halftime with the score of 35-29.
The 2nd half.
#32 from Occidental actually hits the shot but was half a second late on the release. Close call. Another tip off to start the 5 minute overtime.
Chapman’s #2 hits a big three pointer to beat the shot clock and the players and crowd go wild.
With the win in hand, Chapman’s crowd took out their keys and started to chant “start the bus” (I think that’s what they chanted).
I believe this was a result of a leg cramp.
Chapman wins! Let the celebration begin.
Good game to the Occidental team and congratulations to the Chapman University Panthers. Good luck to Coach Carol Jue and the Chapman University Women’s Basketball team as they will travel to Oregon this Saturday to face against the NCAA Division III nation’s #2 ranked team, undefeated George Fox University (27-0). Do I smell upset?
