Almont league’s big game of the week, Mark Keppel High School vs Alhambra High School. Coming off a very disappointing loss (from a questionable call from the referees) against San Gabriel last Friday, Keppel was in a must win situation against the league’s only undefeated team, Alhambra High School. Even during my days playing as an Aztec, there have always been a rivalry against the Moors. In my opinion at a 2 and 2 record, this game was very crucial to Keppel’s last hope at the league title.
From the tip off, Keppel played with great intensity and determination.

At one point during the first half, Keppel’s lead was as big as 11 points. A well coached and disciplined team, Alhambra showed great composure as they kept the game within range.

Keppel was in good shape going into halftime leading the Moors by seven points. But can they maintain the intensity and hold the lead for another half?

It didn’t take too long before the Moors turned this into a close game.

Then comes the curse of the 4th quarter as the Aztecs couldn’t buy a basket and the Moors came up with all the big shots.

Keppel was left with no choice but to foul during the last minute of the game.

The final score.
Let’s hope the team can pick themselves up and finish the league strong. Until next time…Happy Chinese New Year!
